SEGA fanboys and fangirls, get ready for February! The iPhone app store will soon be carrying the SEGA Genesis Ultimate Collection for your nostalgic and finger cramping pleasure.
Set to be released early next month, this collection is essentially an iPhone SEGA store. The SEGA Genesis Ultimate Collection is a single, free app on the iPhone 3GS in which you may purchase classic games to your choosing. There are plans to introduce more Sega classics to this Ultimate Collection app, so I'm sure you'll soon see a number of games that were recently reintroduced in the console version of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, which had 40 some Sega games in it. Older iPhone users however should take note: The Ultimate Collection isn't available for them, as only the new 3GS phone supports the in-app ecommerce model. 3G and 2G users can still download each game individually.

Titles so far include Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Ecco the Dolphin, Shining Force, and Harrier II with more to come. Yes, these are essentially the same games you played before, only emulated for the iPhone. But come on, who doesn't want to play Golden Axe on the go? Now if only they could make it multiplayer.

Am I mistaken, or haven't Genesis games been in the app store already. Is it just the announcement of the in-app commerce model.
AlecAlso since were on the subject. Sega really ought to distribute this guys Sonic CD port: www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_44CTjQjjQ
On a more upbeat note, I'm excited to see Shining Force. I don't know, Iphone users, are Iphones good for RPGs?
